Bathtime Fun

So I can't really take credit for the idea to get a picture of Sadie in the tub. I saw Amanda's post on the Twin's bath time fun and I borrowed the idea. I haven't had a post about her tub experiences lately. So here goes.

Last night during bathtime, Sadie discovered she can splash and that it was fun. She's splashed before but nothing like this. She had a lot of fun with her toys and I had a lot of fun playing with her soapy hair. She has a lot all on top so it was time for a mohawk! Here are a couple of pictures and a video of her playing in the tub.

Daycare Holiday Crafts

So I have to say I really love Sadie's Daycare. Kimmi is so good with the kids and Sadie absolutely loves her and TaTa (Henry, Kimmi's husband). Well one of the things that Kimmi does is crafts with the kids. So I thought I'd take a couple of pictures of them and show you Sadie's (ok Kimmi's) handy work.

Our Halloween Craft:
A Ghost, A Witch and A Pumkin

Here is our Thanksgiving craft:
It's a turkey.
Kimmi said that it was definitely an experience making this one.
All the kids kept wanting to eat the eyes. But they had fun and this is the result.

Here is Sadie with her Turkey

If you can't tell by the expression on her face, it's really early and we are heading to Kimmi's.

She wasn't real sure what the Turkey was to be honest. This picture captures her perfectly. This is her personality in a nut shell.

What A Weekend!

Well we had a great weekend. Plenty going on and to get ready for. Saturday morning I got up and cleaned the living room and rearranged furniture. It was in desperate need of a thorough cleaning. Now Sadie has a lot more room to play and the dogs won't be getting on my furniture anymore. Daisy had paw prints everywhere. Steve even bisselled the couch and recliners.

After cleaning I showered and went to the mall. I went to Mervyn's to see if they still had any Kitchen Aid mixers but alas they were all sold out. So I browsed a little found a couple of shirts I may go back for. (It will depend on my shopping experience in Vegas) I did however find a really cute purse. And for the first time in a LONG time I splurged and got it. No second thoughts.

After shopping at Mervyn's I met Paula, Steph and Sierra for a wonderful lunch at Los Hermanos in the mall. We had a great time chatting about this and that and just really catching up. I haven't gotten out of the house much in the past few months and I felt a little out of touch with all of my friends. It was great to relax and visit.

Then Paula left to get ready for Bakersfield College's Women's basketball game. Steph, Sierra and I went and saw Twilight. I won't go into detail about the movie as some of my loyal readers may or may not have seen the movie yet. But...it was ok. I love the stories and I'll for sure be there for the next movies too, but it was just alright for me. Oh well.
Well after the movie Sierra came over to our house and waxed my eyebrows for me so I wouldn't look like the hairy bush woman of the north for our Vegas trip. After that Sadie and I packed up and went to Bakersfield College to watch Paula coach her team. Sadie did really good. She for the most part sat in my lap and watch the game. Alex (Steph's son) and Sadie did have a lot of fun playing though. It was so nice to get out of the house and to visit with my friends. I really need to do it more often.
Then yesterday I'd realized I hadn't gotten any videos of Sadie walking yet so Steve and I got some random shots of her walking and playing. Please forgive the big wet spots on her shirt. She's cutting another tooth and is constantly drooling again. But here are some pictures of our 10 month old baby girl and some videos. Enjoy.

I had to put this one in because Steve was so proud that he got in the shot with his big ol' mouth.

Yesterday was a GOOD day!

Let's begin at the beginning shall we?! Well yesterday Sadie woke up in a very good mood. She was laughing and watching Johnny & the Sprites. Yep that's one of her favorite morning shows. (It has muppets in the show.) So we got dressed and I decided to take a few photos since I hadn't in a while and also because she was wearing her cupcake shirt. Her Auntie Velsa from my work really loves cupcakes so we try and get pictures for her.

Here are few photos of her in the morning watching her shows while I finished getting dressed.

Then on the way out to the car I realized our tree was a pretty fall color so I snapped a couple of photos of us in front. Really candid shot and remember it's like 6:45 in the morning.

Then at lunch I decided to finally bite the bullet and chop off my hair. That's right CHOP. It actually turned out cute. But I have to share the story of the cutting experience. Well you know we are really pinching pennies right now so I decided to go to Super Cuts. They have always done a nice job. So I decided to go to the one next door to Chipotle. (had it been a little later I'd have gotten me some lunch don't ya know)

Anyway there were two girls, ok they were younger than me so they were girls, working. The gal who did my hair was talking to the other girl about their school that they went to for hair. Well anyway they are talking about how they didn't know crap about when they graduated and that the instructors all said they'd learn on the job and then she got a job there at Supercuts. Ok so they are talking about this while she is CUTTING my hair. I'm thinking to myself what the heck did I get myself into? That type of conversation should not be going on while you're cutting someone's hair. I almost started laughing because here I am sitting in the chair the gal has my hair in her hands and is cutting it and she is talking about not knowing what she's doing. You have to admit it's a bit comical. Then the other gal piped in that she failed the board test twice. So at that point I was actually thankful that I had the girl that I did. But anyway I think considering the above story, my hair turned out ok.

Before: 10-31-08

After: 11-19-08

Ok then Steve, Sadie and I got to go to Dawni, Katie's & Rylie's house for dinner. Unfortunately we didn't get to visit with Dawni, a problem we will soon have to solve. But we had pizza and wedges and GREAT company. The girls played really well and we had great conversation. Thanks for a great dinner Katie!

Then when we got home I went through the mail and found a package from Steve's Mom. About a week or so ago she had sent me an email about "Off to the Movies" a place I used to work at, was going out of business. Well two Thanksgiving's ago I had gone in and got me a crystal but since then it got lost. So I asked Judy to see if they had a couple for cheap. I wanted one for my car and I wanted to hang on in Sadie's window. So she found a couple of really cute ones. Thank you Judy for your gift I love them.

She also included those small wash cloths that you can get at the dollar store that are all tiny and expand when you get them wet. Sadie absolutely loved them. She played with them the whole rest of the night.

Well at one point I looked over at her and she had this odd look on her face. She had one of the compacted wash cloths in her hand and it looked like she was trying to bend it in half. Her whole body was shaking with concentration and force and the look on her face was priceless. I thought it would be a one time deal but she kept doing it all night so I finally got a video. It's so hysterically funny. Here are some pictures of her and also a couple other videos.

Oh have I mentioned she's walking? I haven't gotten good footage of it yet but as soon as I do I'll let you know.

These are the Days of our Lives...

So what do these things have in common? The Eastlick Family that's what. The last week and a half has been filled the sneezes, coughs and fevers. Not limited to Sadie, but also with Steve. I even took Sadie into the doctor last week just to make sure she didn't have an ear infection. You'll be happy to know it was just a severe cold and she is finally recovering. She still has a bit of congestion in her nose but we are dealing with that. At least there are no more fevers. That was scary. She had a fever of 99.2 for three days and it even spiked to 100.3. Now I know you are probably saying that's not a high fever at all but for our Little Miss Sadie it is, as her normal temperature is usually 97.8.

Now Steve on the other hand. The man is awful. He is coughing like crazy and refuses to go to the doctor. Mom if you're reading this you may want to scold your son. He said that everything is fine and there is nothing the doctor can do, but I do not remember seeing a medical degree on his wall. If anything I know that the doctor could at least give him a prescription for cough medicine, which I have to say is the worst of all his symptoms. He is coughing so much he is hardly sleeping. UGH!

In happier news we got to go and visit Andy & Gin Olson last night. So we finally got to meet Atley Olson. She is four months old and is so cute. She was so fun! Sadie kept wanting to play but we had to keep telling her she wasn't old enough to play. Sadie did really good at the Olson's house. She explored and didn't get into too much trouble. Before we left our house though she was CRANKY. She was tired, here is a picture. She is wearing the t-shirt that Grandma Eastlick got for her. You can't see it too well, but she looked really cute.

So that's pretty much what's been going on at our house. This week we are cleaning the house and getting ready for trip to Las Vegas. We'll be leaving next Wednesday after we get off work. It just gives me an excuse to plan and to make lists. Oh and thank you to Sierra Huang who is going to help me get ready for my Vegas trip by shaping and waxing my eyebrows.
Oh and this Saturday at 2pm I'm going to see Twilight the movie with a great group of friends. We are going to the East Hills Mall and watch it. If you're interested in joining us let me know.

HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY

What is a Veteran? A “veteran” whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to, and including his life.” That is HONOR, and there are too many Americans in this country today, who no longer understand that fact.

I just wanted to say thank you to all my family and friends who have served in the military. I also want to say thank you to all the service men and women who have served or who are currently serving this wonderful country. Today is for you. Today is to remember those who have fallen to help keep this a free country. I am so truly blessed to live in this wonderful country. I can honestly say that I feel safe and secure due to the efforts of those who serve.
Thank you, God Bless you and Be Safe!

No Picture - Theron Toler my sister-in-laws Dad.
I don't have a good picture of him but he did serve in the Air Force.

This is a picture of my friend Dawni's Brother (Dude) and some of his fellow service men.
I don't have a picture of my Papa, Albert Facey, while serving in the Korean war but I wanted to make sure I got a picture of him on here as well.

Pressing Forward in Faith.

* I've deleted my previous statement from this morning. *

My apologies for not being more compassionate. Please don't think I want the protestors to picket at other churches. It's just scary watching the news and seeing all the protestors at the Temple. Our place of refuge, peace and love. It's hard to see all of the hate that is surrounding it. But I also know that the outside hate and bitterness can not penetrate those walls. I just read my friend Alison's blog and she is so eloquent in her writing, so compassionate and loving. I should not have started my entry out the way I did and for that I apologize.

Alison stated that she loves the protestors, and I do too. We are not bigots or full of hate. We are merely voicing our beliefs and standing up for what we believe in. She said it all much better than I but it's true. Faith is an action word and this is going to be a time of testing that Faith for people of our Church. I for one have faith that God will prevail. Satan is really working the hearts of the people and trying to stir them up. This isn't over by far but we must stand fast and press forward in faith. Faith that we have a Loving Heavenly Father who loves each and every one of us...member or not. Faith in our leaders. Faith in ourselves that we will stand up for what is right and act when asked and needed.

I know this is not a simple task but as Alison pointed out we have to work at it. Faith is an action word. I know we will get through this but we will need the support of our families, friends, ward families and leaders. Satan is real! He is working hard against us and that is not a comforting thought. We must make sure that we are diligient and not let him sneak through the chinks of our armor. It's disheartening to know that we are the Church that so many have decided is the enemy. But what can we do? This is not the first time our Church has been targeted by hatred. I know that I believe in this church, I support my leaders and I know that through faith and love all will turn out alright in the end.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the patrons that work daily at the Temples that are being targeted and have to walk through the hate and bitterness. I love you and love that you are so strong to continue your work.

The Count Down Has Begun....TWILIGHT the Movie

**I just found out there is a Temple trip planned for the 21st and also it's BC Women's Basketball's first home game. So let's shoot for Saturday. There are several times. I'd suggest 2pm and then those who'd like to make an afternoon of it can go to lunch before hand. But I'm open to any times. Matinee would be awesome though. click on the link below and then there is a fandango link so you can get the times. **

Ok gang I'm getting really excited. The movie is released in 15 days, November 21st, 2008. YAY! That's right I'm one of the millions of fans that are excited for the upcoming release. Since Steve is a typical male he has opted to watch Sadie that evening. So I'm going to try and get a group together to go and see it. Anyone who is interested in seeing Twilight the movie with me let me know. I'm planning on going Friday night, November 21st, 2008 (opening night) at 7:30pm at East Hills Mall. Unless there is a better suggestion. I'm open either Friday night or Saturday. I hope you can make it. I think it would be a lot of fun.

I'm Sad, but I will move forward with Optimism

So I'll just put this out there. I'm really sad that OBAMA won. A friend of mine forwarded me an email this last week about pro life. It was eloquently written and it had all the back up information for all her points on the subject. Bottom line anyone that believes themselves to be pro life really needed to consider not voting for OBAMA. I am PRO LIFE and I did NOT vote for OBAMA. But I know there is nothing more that I can do or say on this subject. All I can do now is hope and PRAY that things will work out. I just hope that result of the election will not be more detrimental to our society and our beliefs.

I know I've gone on a tangent but I have to say that all the people posting and praising OBAMA has really bothered me. So I wanted to make my feelings clear. I also have to say that people did not give President Bush enough credit. He inherited this economic crisis from none other than President Clinton. He also has had to deal with the fall out of 9/11 and the war in IRAQ. I don't agree with everything he did or said, but I have to tell you that under the circumstances I believe he did a good job. I believe that it could have been ALOT worse. I'm tired of people bashing him and also his speech. It just shows me that he is an regular person. Some one to be looked up to, unlike someone else we all know.

Ok there I've said my peace and now I will move on. I will support President Obama, as he was elected by the people which is what this country is all about. And I have to say I'm glad that there were so many people who came out to vote. Hopefully this will be the start of a brighter future.

Fun Family Home Evening

That's right, last night Sadie and I went to a Yes on 8 Rally. It was a lot of fun. There was a great turn out. We had people on every corner of Stockdale & California. The news showed up and everything. There were many different religions that turned out as well which was AWESOME!

Sadie had a good time. When we first got there she was in her stroller but by the time we left I had taken her out and she was helping me wave my sign. Which I believe ROCKED! I made it myself. I had it on a long dowel which was great because I could wave it really high for everyone to see. Sadie enjoyed all the honking of the supporters as they drove by and all the lights. My good friend Carianne and her brother's family were there. She and her husband Jared actually organized this rally. They did a great job.

A lady who supports this proposition asked me if I was raising my child to be activist. Not in a judgemental way but in an awed way. I told her that I'm not an activist but I fight for what I believe in and that's what I want to instill in my daughter. I also want her to know that I fought for her and our religious beliefs. I want her to know that she has a voice and that every person's vote matters. I know there is a lot of opposition especially for this proposition but if I don't take a stand and show others that I'm willing to sacrifice my time for what I believe then what kind of an example am I setting for my daughter? I want her to grow up a strong and independent woman and I feel this is one step towards that.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE....BECAUSE EVERY VOTE COUNTS!

We had a lot of fun on the corner. Waving at people and getting them to honk.

Nice Quiet Rainy Weekend

Yep that's right...it rained in Bakersfield! Sadie was very interested in how she was getting wet outside. We took a video but it's on our video camera. I'll upload it later. So it was a little chilly in the morning and I had things I needed to accomplish so I dressed Sadie and put her in her play area.

I emptied the box of huggies and gave her the box. I'd heard of stories about kids not playing with the toy they got but playing with the box. I have to tell you it's true! She played and played all day long with that box. She talked to the little girl on the outside and kissed her. She explored the inside of the box all the while watching some classic Disney movies. We finally had to get rid of the box after she climbed on top and almost ate the entire corner. (time for frozen waffles)

Playing inside the Huggies box

Dancing to Monsters Inc.

Sunday came with an extra hour. So we all were up pretty early. But while I was getting ready for Church my precious Angel fell asleep. I told Steve after Church that we need to do this every Sunday. She was so good at Church. We stayed for all three hours! YAY!

I was even sane enought to bear my testimony this week. I handed Sadie off to Kelli & Keith Knabe who held Sadie while I went up to the pulpit. She did really well all through Sacrament meeting and did a lot better with the water this time. I had cheerios that she munched on. I took her baby food and Jordan helped me feed her during Sunday School and then she slept for most of Relief Society.

Steve said I needed to caption this "Momma takes too long getting dressed"

It was such a great lazy, cold, rainy weekend. I really didn't want it to end. We all slept long and took long naps. Steve made Stuffed Bell Peppers which were really good. Sadie wasn't as cranky as last weekend so that was a plus. We think she is going through a growth spurt though. This morning when we were brushing our teeth, yes Sadie has her own tooth brush, I noticed there was another tooth starting to come through on top. I also noticed her front tooth that was out went back in a bit too. So now it looks like Sadie is teething 4 teeth all at once. My poor baby, no wonder she knawed on that Huggies box. Like I said earlier time for the Waffles.
