Our World...Lately

So let me just say that wow I'm caught up on my blog. Didn't think I'd get it done but yep I did it. And the reason I didn't think I'd get it done is because our world is just a bit crazy these days. Crazy but good that is!
So where to begin? Well I'm still working at home taking care of the crazy girl that lives here and trying to pick up after the daily tornados that are our life. I am still watching my cousin's little boy Jude on and off.
In January I signed Sadie up for Bobby Sox Softball. Craziness I know but I really thought she'd like it. What I forgot about softball was there is a lot of standing around and our Princess doesn't stop moving. So we've had a bit of a challenge there. But wait I forgot to mention that I signed up to help be a chaperone for the team but then the manager they had backed out so "who you gonna call?" ME! So during the meetings I found out that we needed another guy to help coach so "who you gonna call?" STEVE! I must have SUCKER tattooed on my forhead. So the first couple of practices our kid (the youngest on the team) isn't even playing or listening but we are in charge. Priceless. Oh well you live you learn and grow from our mistakes. So Tuesdays and Thursdays nights so far are full of practices...I'm afraid of what the game schedule is going to look like but we'll make due.
I have several friends who are pregnant right now. I started crocheting blankets and managed to crank 3 of those bad boys out. Then I discovered a new obession...sewing. That's right I got my new sewing machine out because of JoAnn's (which I'm no longer allowed in without supervision). I have been sewing like crazy, but I'm loving it.
Let's see where can I go from here...In happy, excited and awesome news our great friends the Fieldsteds (Emi, Tyson and Nina) welcomed a new addition to their family. Evelyn! She is the cutest. And I'm really excited because Emi and I are going to play and get some great baby pictures. In sad news our dear, dear friends The Olson's are moving out of state. We are terribly sad but we are trying to get as much Olson time in as possible. So Emi and I are throwing a baby shower and moving party.
So needless to say the next few months are going to be busy. Between softball, babies and parties we will be pretty booked. However we managed to fit in an Anniversary trip in there. We will celebrate 17 years at the end of March. So we are going to Disneyland and Dana Point. I'm so excited to be celebrating 17 years with my very best friend. 17 years...it's completely crazy. One more year and I'll have been with Steve longer than my parents. Hahaha. How funny is that?! Without getting too mushy on ya, lets just say I couldn't have picked a better man to spend my life with. He is a great man, husband and father. And I'm so lucky that he feels the same way. Yep I spoke for him, but let's face it you'll never hear him say it especially on here or heaven forbid facebook.
So we are still here and kickin'. We may be going a little crazy (thanks to me) but we are enjoying life and the changes that hit us when we least expect it.

Crocheting & Sewing

There is something in the water around here because there are lots of people pregnant these days! I'm hoping it might rub off on me!
My dear friend Emi is having a little girl and they painted her room two shades of yellow in stripes. So I got the idea to crochet her a blanket to match. It turned out really cute!
My other dear friend Virginia is having a little boy. She liked the big wide bands on Emi's blanket so I decided to crochet her this blanket. I actually sketched out 3 different patterns and Steve chose this one. Good thing too because she loved it.
I also decided to make Emi a little drag blanket for the baby. These are the same colors that I used for Sadie's large blanket. Then I found some minky type yarn that I used for the trim.
Here's a better look at the trim.
I finally got my sewing machine out that I got for Christmas because JoAnn's was having a huge sale on flannel. So I decided to make some burp cloths and blankets.
I might be a little addicted. The star material is minky and I have to say I prefer to use the terry cloth on the burp cloths. It's much easier to sew.
I made this blanket for Emi and the baby as well. I love the pattern!
Yes I did make a few patterns for boys. The backing is terry cloth on this cloth.
This I made for photos. Yep I decided to make me a back drop. It's a reversable large blanket basically. I think it turned out pretty good.
I went back to JoAnn's and got some more material. I am absolutely addicted. So far I have enough material to make 24 burp cloths and three back drops as well and a couple of blankets.

Valentine Day Lunch

We got invited over to our friend Nina and Emi's house for a Valentine's Day lunch
Emi was awesome...she made this feast for the girls to enjoy and sandwichs for Gin and I.
The girls didn't eat much but they sure did enjoy what they did eat.
Sadie
Atley
Nina
Sadie had to decorate her jello hearts with yogurt...yeah I don't know about her.
So after they ate they made butterflies that Emi got for them.
Nina was the Picaso of the group
Then after the craft I got the sugar cookies I made and the girls decorated them.
I think they enjoyed the cookies though.
We are very lucky to have such great friends.

Softball

Yep can you believe it? Sadie is going to play softball.
And of course what would be an organization without having a fundraiser?
So Sadie (Steve) sold 50 bars of chocolate.
These pictures are the ones we put on the box for Steve's office.
I can't believe it's started already, but we both felt Sadie needed another outlet.

Of course me being who I am got suckered in to managing the team and Steve is coaching. It's turning out to be a little more than we bargained for but we've made the committment. And once the games start it'll be fun to watch Sadie to see if she plays or chases the butterflies in outfield. I'll post pictures of the games soon.

An Escape to feed the Ducks

This week Sadie and I have not been dealing well with eachother. She is really starting to test boundries and is very independent. Which translates into "I'm going to do whatever I want when I want. And I'm not going to listen to you."
So I loaded her up and we went up to Steve's office for a walk. I needed out of the house and she needed a change of scenery. So after our walk we decided to go out to Hart Park and feed the ducks. We both needed something to do together that would get eachother mad.

We had a lovely lunch and were greeted by lots of ducks and birds.

At one point we were completely surrounded.
I've been having such a hard time lately and it's very frustrating. I just need to remember when I get completely crazy that I need to change the situation/scenery and take a break.

After lunch I decided to run by WINCO on the way home. Sadie was beat so she had a little rest.
