See I'm Not Always Grumpy!

So since I posted her morning "I'm Grumpy" pictures yesterday. I decided to post the I'm happy pictures and videos. I got to tell you that Sadie is so serious all the time. The only way I can get her to smile is to sing the Little Einstein song. We are working on the tickling part. But she is just like her Daddy, serious all the time. Here are a few cute pictures though. We are gearing up for this weekend. Rylie gets to come over Sunday afternoon and stay the night. We are going to have so much fun! I told Steve this will be good practice for our second one. So be prepared for an onslaught of pictures from this weekend with Rylie.

This is a video of how Sadie is crawling right now. Bear Crawling. She also has discovered the high chair can move if you push on it so that's been fun.

Well this video is of Sadie discovering her Shadow and figuring out how to sit down.

Tired Girl

So this morning Sadie was up at the crack of dawn playing in the crib. We just let her go and tried to get a few more minutes of sleep. So when we finally did get up, she had fallen back asleep. Needless to say she must have partied all night. The face says it all!

So Now What?

As you can see Sadie now has figured out she can pull herself up and just barely see ove the top of the playpen. Oh and she is flat footed. No tippy toes here. Yes she is that tall. The funny thing is though as you look on you'll see that standing up is all fine and good but how the heck to get back down. It was funny trying to see her work through the situation.

Weird Mother Dreams

Ok so out of all you Moms out there, do you remember having weird mother dreams? You may still have them for all I know but man, mine have been so crazy lately. I'm even getting up out of my bed and trying to lift the bed or trying to catch Sadie from falling. It's completely bizzare. I am constantly having dreams where I have to save Sadie. Like the bed thing. I literally was trying to lift the bed up with Steve and I on it because I thought Sadie had fallen between the headboard and the wall. Steve had to wake me up. Another time I have hanging on to a rope that had Sadie on the other end and I was trying to pull it up. Yeah poor Steve, I had a hold of his arm and was giving him an Indian burn.

Well the latest in this kooky installment was this weekend, I can't remember if it was Friday or Saturday night, I thought Sadie was falling off the ledge in our bedroom. Now our bedroom has one of those decorative ledges and we use it for storage. Well apparently I thought Sadie was up there and she was going to fall. So I jumped out of bed screaming at the top of my lungs for Steve to help me. He jumped up and ran around the end of the bed looking for whatever it was I was yelling about. He asked me what's going on. I said Sadie is up there and she's going to fall off. Help me. Now if I had been a man I'm sure Steve would have decked me, he was so mad. He finally told me to Go back to bed.

So I'm asking for advice. What do I do to make the dreams stop? It's happening more often now and my poor husband is getting fed up. He asked me the next day if my insurance covered mental illness. YIKES! Help before it goes that far.

Church Picnic

Well this weekend our Church had a picnic with a waterslide and everything. It was really fun. Sadie got to crawl around. Although she really didn't go too far until it got closer to us going home. Steve also gave her, her very first popicle. I wasn't too happy about that but what can I do. It's going to happen eventually right? I just am so concerned/cautious of her weight and I don't want to start bad habits now. But she really enjoyed it. It made her teeth feel good. So we've decided we will find some sugar free popicles and she can teethe on them.

She had a rough day today with her teeth. She was running a temperature and I kept having to put ambosol on her gums. She was clingy but didn't want to be controlled. It was "mommy hold me, mommy put me down" all morning. But she seemed better this afternoon. She is having a hard time falling asleep, so hopefully she'll do better tonight.
Below are some pictures and a video.

Here is the video of Sadie eating her popicle. You can hear a bunch of people in the back ground but my favorite is of Papa Randy teasing Gracie Galyan. Enjoy!

Soap Box

Ok so if you haven't figured it out by now I'm in favor of Proposition 8. I will be voting yes on this bill. Yes I believe in marriage only being between a man and a woman as it states in the Bible, but that is not the only reason I am voting yes.

If you read my previous blog entry you will have read the different consequesences if the fails. And it is those issues that I am concerned about. Sexual preference and religious beliefs aside, if this passes our right to worship how we want will change. If the pastors, preachers and bishops are being sued for not doing gay marriages, that is in direct conflict with their beliefs and that means that we are being told how to worship.

Not to mention if our children will have to be taught about same sex marriages then isn't that taking a right away from the parents and how they would like to raise their children?

Isn't this a free Country? And isn't this a founding principle of this great Country, that we can worship how we want? I know my ancestors didn't suffer persecution for their grandchildren to have that right taken away.

I know I've gone off on a tangent but if we don't put a stop to things like this now, all the things that are wonderful and free about this Country won't be. And that is not a place I'd like to raise my daughter. Our founding Fathers were Christians and they were fighting for their right to worship as they wanted. They probably weren't all of the same faith but they united together for the same cause. This is what we need to do now.

Please let me clarify something. I have nothing against homosexuals. The are human beings just like you and me and I know several that are very good people. I do not agree with that lifestyle but I am not here to judge. I'm here to get through this world the best that I can. What I have a problem with is my freedoms being taken away. And I will fight against that any day of the week.

Thank you for listening if you made all the way through this entry.

* And for the record if you are a friend or family member of mine I will keep your comments listed. However, I will not keep random people's comments. Thank you.

Six Consequences If Proposition 8 Fails

1. Children in public schools will be taught that both traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are okay. The California Education Code already requires that health education classes instruct children about marriage. (§51890)

Therefore, if the definition of marriage is changed, children will be taught that marriage is a relation between any two adults. There will be serious clashes between the secular school system and the right of parents to teach their children their own values and beliefs.

2. Churches will be sued if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings that are open to the public. Ask whether your pastor, priest, minister, bishop, or rabbi is ready to perform such marriages in your chapels and sanctuaries.

3. Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children only in homes with both a mother and a father. Catholic Charities in Boston has already closed its doors because of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.

4. Religions that sponsor private schools and which provide housing for married students will be required to provide housing for same-sex couples, even if it runs counter to church doctrine, or lose tax exemptions and benefits.

5. Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages will be sued for hate speech and could be fined by the government. It has already happened in Canada, one of six countries that have legalized gay marriage.

6. It will cost you money. A change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits. Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today's activist judges), think of the money – your money, your church contributions – that will have to be spent on legal fees.

And think of all the unintended consequences that we cannot even foresee at this time. Where will it end? It's your children, your grandchildren, your money, and your liberties. Lets work together to protect them.

* And for the record if you are a friend or family member of mine I will keep your comments listed. However, I will not keep random people's comments. Thank you.

We Love Puppies!

Ok so if I haven't already explained to you, Sadie loves dogs. Not just our dogs but any dog. Well last night Daisy was wanting to get scratched, but I had Sadie. So Sadie started playing with Daisy and Daisy saw an opportunity to teach Sadie how to scratch her back.

YEAH RIGHT! It was the funniest thing though. I didn't get any pictures because I was busy holding off Daisy and holding onto Sadie. Steve was in the back room and missed the entire show. Sadie was laughing so hard at one point she snorted and then stopped breathing for a second.

So in honor of dogs everywhere we are going to go to Fresno on the 27th of September for a walk-a-thon to help support their local Animal rescue. Suzanne and Shane have used them a few times and have been really impressed so they are going to walk. So Sadie and I thought we would take the drive and go support them. I think Sadie will love to walk around with all the puppies.

New Accomplishments

Ok so these pictures of Sadie in her high chair are post dinner! We are now learning that we don't have to suck on our thumb while we eat. She has gotten a lot better. Does she not look totally and utterly comfortable. She is constantly exploring with her feet. Hence the the foot!

I couldn't figure out if she was giving me the thumbs up or trying to show me her thumb! Either way it's just a really cute picture.

So besides growing by leaps and bounds (we had to start putting her in her stretchy outfits cuz she out grew her pajamas) she has discovered to her delight that she can try and get the dogs when she is on the floor. The only thing she can't seem to get a grip on is not being able to suck her thumb while crawling. The videos will show she will only crawl a little bit and then stop so she can suck on her thumb. It's cute. And Yes, you are listening to the Olympics in the back ground. We've been watching them faithfully every night!

So to our amazement this last week Sadie pulled herself up all by herself to the standing position. We think it is in honor of the Olympics! She can't help but be inspired to climb, crawl and dance. She was crawling on the floor and decided she had to investigate the root beer bottle on her bouncer. She used the side of the bouncer and pulled herself up. She even tried to climb up onto the bouncer but couldn't do it. She did great just standing there playing with her bouncer until she got tired and tumbled to the ground. Unfortunately Mommy wasn't fast enough and she hit her head. No worries though, there was no blood and I know it's not the last time it will happen. So here are a few pictures and a couple of videos.

Sadie is finally cutting a dang tooth. It's about time is all I have to say about that. Even now you can feel it but you can't quite see it. It looks like a pimple on her gums. It's on her lower gums. And if I thought the drool was bad before look out cuz there is even more now. We've been having to use ambosol cuz the teething tablets haven't been working.

I tell you this for the next picture. You will see the ring around her dress of drool. Now in the picture it's just an ordinary day sitting in her bouncer playing with her musical piano. Well yesterday she was playing with the piano and she started dancing. She danced while Steve played with her. The video isn't all that great but you can kind of see how she dances. This by no means gives the DDR (Dance, Dance Revolution) justice. She was so cute just dancing with Steve.

My New High Chair

That's right Sadie has graduated from the Bumbo Seat to her new high chair. At first she didn't know what to make of it but eventually she got used to it. (We still use the bumbo occassionally for outside eating.)

Grass feels weird Momma!

So Sunday we decided to eat our breakfast outside in the back yard. It was a nice morning and not hot. So after breakfast Daddy decided to play in the yard. Up until now I've always had a blanket down for her to lay on but Steve thought it was time to get used to the grass. Here are some pictures of her reactions. Oh and the video is hysterical, even Daisy is worried about her and keeps checking on her. She was making a lot of noise.
Does anyone else think she looks like a bull dog. You know the one on the cartoons with the little dog hopping all around him? Yeah I'm dating myself but I couldn't stop laughing.

Sadie & Uncle Luke

On Mom and Dad's way back through Bakersfield they stopped over for the night to visit. Sadie absolutely loves her Uncle Luke. He makes funny sounds for her and he has long hair to pull (her favorite past time right now). Here is a picture of them and a video of Sadie's reaction. The video is kind of dark but you can hear her pretty good.

Crazy Hair

So lately I've been trying to do Sadie's hair. It's starting to grow out just enough that I could get a little pigtail. Here are a few pictures with her pig tails. (Oh and by the way, yes she absolutely loves that thumb. And it's a pain when it's food time.)

Here is the aftermath of her pigtails. The hair just sticks up.
There's that thumb again!

Making Pancakes

Six year-old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor. He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.

Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad. He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked! Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky.

And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him. Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!

That's how God deals with us... We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend, or we can't stand our job, or our health goes sour. Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him.

But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying to make pancakes for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they’ll be glad we tried.

And never stop making pancakes.

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything." Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Memory Lane

This is a challenge from one of my good friends - Randy. So here goes.

Calling all Memories!! So here is a fun new blogging game:
1. Leave one memory that you and I had together, as a comment on my blog. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! Or just say something nice.
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.

If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. Have a nice little trip down memory lane! (I know you just had a great memory of us....now leave a comment about it!!!)

Weekend Pictures and Videos

Friday, Steve took Sadie to her 6 month check up and shots. She is 16 lbs 11oz and is 26 3/4" long. Steve said she did really good when they gave her the shots and only grunted. Here is a picture of her thigh where she had two shots. This picture was taken on Saturday. They aren't as red now but there are still a couple of knots on her thigh we have been massaging.

Needless to say she really wasn't to happy about being poked and proded. But she was really good on Saturday for her pictures. After we got home we just played on the bed while Steve played XBox. On top of her getting her shots she is teething really bad so she is chewing on everything and anything right now. Poor baby. I know it's probably not her molars but that's where she's been chewing so we will see. Here are some pictures and videos...

Sadie loves her tongue and loves to make faces right now.

Smiling Girl.
Sadie now rolls over and sits up on her own.

Mommy and Sadie take a break from wrestling for a picture.
(Yes those are her feet not her hands going for the camera cord)
Sadie really loves my glasses and tries to get them all the time now.
Too Cute!

Thumb break
Trying to sneak to get the camera
Sadie Attacking Mommy

Steve teasing Sadie with her rings.

Laughing & Snorting Sadie (Yes she snorts right at the beginning of the clip)

Steve playing Propeller with Sadie's rings

Sadie talking and rocking. She also demonstrates her new fake cry.

Playing with her rings & talking

(By the way she loves those rings and waves them around all the time. You have to watch out to because she can whip those things pretty fast.)

Trying to get the camera. She's all about trying to grab stuff out of your hands right now. She thinks she wants everything. And you hear about it if she doesn't get it (which is often in our house - no sympathy here). Hince the fake cry. It's funny and pathetic at the same time.
