Time For - Snacks & More Bruises!

One of the great gifts Sadie got for her birthday was a table and chairs from Alex Foulger. Sadie absolutely loves it. Well on Saturday after her tramatic day the day before we just hung around the house. It was a beautiful and uncommoningly warm day. We decided that we'd try and have Sadie eat her Cheerios at the table instead of spreading them across the floor.

Well it started out fine...

Until she discovered she could push the table and it obeyed her command!

Right before she fell. Mommy was too slow to catch her. But she fell getting off her chair and hit her forehead on the table.

Yes that's the look I got! Classic right?! She gets those looks from me you know. HA!

Scary Moment

This morning started out innocently enough. Sadie and I were taking our time getting ready to go to her One Year check up with Dr. Shah. Everything was going great until while getting Sadie dressed I turned my back for a moment and Sadie fell. And she fell HARD. She was on top of her changing table. It is about 4 feet tall. At the time it happened I thought she landed on her head but after closer examination she fell on her shoulder and then her head bounced off the floor.

Needless to say I was a bit panicked. I do have to say that I think I kept it together fairly well. I called Steve immediately and told him what happened and that I tested her eyes. no dilation. And she kept wanting to go to sleep. So instantly I knew she had a concusion. I tried to calm her down but I knew I couldn't let her go to sleep. So I called my good friend Stephanie for some advice. She agreed that it sounded like a concusion and that we needed to get her to the Urgent care. I told her that I had an appointment with her Dr. at 9am that morning so she suggested I call them right away and see if she can come in now.

I called Dr. Shah and they agreed we needed to get her in. So I loaded Sadie up. I was nervous about her going to sleep, although it was her nap time anyway. I just couldn't be sure if it was nap sleep or concusion sleep. So I turned on my vent in the car and tried to keep her awake. Half way there I realized I had her O's in her bag so I started giving her Cheerios and she was fine.

We got to the Dr office and she was alert and playing so they said we'd wait until her appointment at 9am. Steve got there and Sadie and Steve played outside until it was time for her visit. The Dr checked her out and said she was fine. She also lost some weight (due to all the running) but the Dr said that was normal. She is 29 3/4" tall and she got her 12 month shots. Poor baby. It was a very long and stressful day for all of us.

Here is a picture of her after the appointment

Daddy lovin' on Sadie when he got home.

This is the side of her head that she landed on. You can't see it very well but she has a bruise right at the end of her eyebrow.

Sadie's Latest Art Project

Today at Kimmi's (daycare) they made noodle necklaces.

Kimmi kept having to take away Sadie's necklace for this very reason.
She loved the fact that I had it on my head.

Yep That's Right...Another Year Older!

33 Years and Counting!
That's right! It's my birthday again. You know it's funny, I have no problem posting about other people's achievements, birthdays or anything like that but when it comes to me it's hard to do something like this for myself.
I thought about that this morning when I got up and thought, Sadie will be ticked off later on in life if you don't document something about your birthday. So I took my camera with me to work and documented my day.

The morning was quiet (for a change) so I was able to get some work done around the office. I hadn't decided what I was going to do for lunch yet though. My friend were really busy at work and we had made arrangements to go to lunch on Friday and Steve was super busy. So I decided to go to lunch by myself. Usually I eat at my desk so it was a nice change.
So I decided to go to Jake's Tex Mex and get a taco salad and a slice of chocolate cake. (I usually get this cake for my birthday anyway.)
This was my lunch. Yes I know there were two pieces of cake, and no I didn't eat them both in one day. Doesn't that Salad look awesome. It tasted good too.
Here is a picture of inside Jake's. It's small but it's really good food.

Do you know how you can tell you have friends who love you? Well when those friends show up at your office with flowers and a balloon even though they had a super busy and stressful morning. I'm so glad I got back to the office when I did because I almost missed Katie.
Thank you Katie Bug!
At my desk
I also got this awesome card, signed by everyone at work. When you open it, it plays "Can't Touch This" It's pretty funny.
When I got home Sadie didn't want to put the balloon down.
Here's a video of me opening my birthday present. Thank you Steve!
I got Sadie dressed and we headed out. My other Awesome friend who loves me very much, offered to watch Sadie for us while Steve and I went out to dinner.
Thanks Susan!
Steve and I went to Hungry hunter. We had a coupon and what we thought were gift certificates. Alas due to the economic situation the company that issued the said gift certificates closed so they were no longer good. Ah well, it was a good meal anyway. They sat us right next to the fire place. It was nice and cozy and romantic.
I asked the waitress to get our picture.
Note: I made an 8X8 digital book of just Steve and I. I had a free coupon from Shutterfly. While I was doing this however I realized that Steve and I don't have a lot of pictures with just the two of us. I'm usually taking the pictures. So I decided that starting this year that was going to change.
My complimentary slice of cake (which Steve ate since I already had my cake from Jake's)
In the car on the way home.
Do you know just how much I love my husband? I bet you don't! I bet he doesn't know either! But I truly love him so much that I don't know what my life would be like without him. He is my very best friend. He puts up with all my craziness and loves in spite of it.
Momma and Sadie on our way home.
Isn't she so cute. I can honestly say she is the best thing I have ever done!
This was my birthday present from Steve. He saw how much we had fun on Saturday so he went around and found a copy.
Bummer part of putting the picture on the blog, Steve said now I had to post a video of me playing it. So I do apologize. Here it is.
Overall it was a great day. I got to spend time with the people I love. I had friends who showed me how much they care about me. Now I ask you what could be better than that!

Grandpa & Grandma Eastlick's Presents

Grandma Judy and Grandpa Chet were not able to make it to Bakersfield for Sadie's birthday. So we decided to wait until everyone left and call them on Skype so they could see Sadie open her presents. Unfortunately we couldn't get the video portion to work but we were able to talk to them and they got to hear everything.

Sadie watiting patiently with her tea cup.

(She got a tea set for her birthday)

Grandma got Sadie this great tool bench. It sings and counts and Sadie loves to beat on it.

She also got Sadie this phone. It's funny because Sadie will walk around with it and it says hello so Sadie says hello. She's at the mimick stage right now. (SCARY!)

Grandpa Chet got her this great drum. Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures of it when she opened it but a couple days later this was the scene. (I timed it just perfect to get E on the drum for Eastlick. HA! I didn't even notice that until I was uploading the picture just now.)

Here is a quick video of Sadie and the drum. And no she didn't get hurt. Unfortunately she's taken after her mother and is a bit of a klutz.

One last thing...Sadie is very funny.
She got two bears at her birthday party. One was a classic pooh bear. The other was a build-a-bear Cinderella Bear. They are both very cute and Sadie loves them both. But what was funny was she set them on top of her box/house and had them far enough apart that she could see me through the crack. She kept running back and forth from one end of the box to the other and stopping each time to look at me through the bears. Here is a picture of what I saw...

After the Party

Well after the party my parents, brothers, brother & sister-in-law all came back to our house and played WII! It was a blast. My Mom made a trip to Blockbuster and we rented "Dancing with the Stars" game. It was awesome. Suzanne had posted a really funny entry on her blog over the Holidays about the game and how they had fun playing it so we thought we'd give it a try. It was pretty fun and extremely hillarious.

After Shane & Suzanne left to head home (Fresno) we continued playing the WII and Sadie was playing with all her new toys. Talk about overload. She was bouncing from one toy to the next. Here are some random pictures and videos of the evening. Enjoy!

Sadie & Uncle Michael playing with the Laptop.
Mikey had some fun techno music playing and of course my music junkie of a daughter loved it.

This video is quick. It's of Sadie riding her new car. It didn't last too long. She likes to push it around more than ride it.
