Halloween 2008

Halloween started at my work, MS Walker & Associates. Steve picked Sadie up early and came to my office where I got to dress her up and take her around the office showing her off. I mean really who wouldn't want to see this cute butterfly/dragonfly.

For the record Steve wore it all the way to Costco.

Then we turned our attention on the hords of people we THOUGHT were going to come. So Steve got out Frankie (our 8 foot tall Frankenstein) and inflated him. Then I got our pumpkins out and took some pictures.

That's right I'm showing my support. Although I'm dressing it up for the Holidays.
Sadie wasn't diggin' on Frankie so Steve thought we better traumatize her somemore. Here are some pictures and a few videos of Steve torturing his daughter. Ok so I may have had a hand in it too. She was just really cute.

Cute Da!

Walking with Da

This is the newest face. She makes it all the time. Doesn't she look sweet? HA!

Before people started showing up, we were getting ready for dinner. Well I came around the corner and saw that Sadie was dancing. There was no noise at all.
She was definitely dancing to the beat of her own drum.
Momma and Sadie passing out candy. She really enjoyed the EIGHT people that came trick or treating. That's right eight people. We even stocked up because the last two years we had tons of kids. Not this year. Although we met a couple of neighbors that have kids Sadie's age so that was nice. I told Steve we really need to socialize more with them since she'll more than likely end up going to school with them. Isabella, Ryan & Cheyenne. They were all really cute.

In between answering the door, we watched 2 & 1/2 Men. Sadie loves the theme song. Well I caught her dancing to it. She is so cute. She just loves to dance.

Sadie's First Halloween Party

Oh where to begin? What could have gone wrong did! First the wind was blowing so hard all day long, I was quite nervous that we might actually get blown away. I was able to find out that the Halloween party got moved inside. However because of the weather Katie & Rylie decided to pass on the party. They weren't the only ones come to find out when I got home. When I got home Steve was laying in bed with Sadie playing. He was tired and couldn't breathe.

I know I shouldn't have been mad because he really couldn't breathe, but I was. He wasn't going to the party now. I understood but I didn't understand. If that makes sense. I understood because he couldn't breathe bottom line. But I didn't understand because it was Sadie's first Halloween party, and it wasn't like we were doing anything else. I understand that she isn't going to remember a lot of this time but I will. I know it's a little selfish but it's hard not to feel that way. We, ok I, have waited so long for a child to actually do all these things with so it was hard for me to understand.

So needless to say I didn't take the truck nor the Frankenstien to the party. Sadie was already really tired when we got there at 6:45. I got to see a few friends. I tried to eat a frito boat but miss Sadie wasn't having it. So I let her crawl around. Problem was there was a bunch of kids playing basketball and she kept trying to get in the middle of their game. I told Steve later it was like she was trying to tell them they weren't doing it right. Then we walked across the stage in her cute costume during the Halloween Costume Parade. Papa Randy was the MC which made it fun.

After that though Sadie was DONE! So we didn't even get to do the trunk or treat part of the evening. It made me a little sad but I'll get over it. Tonight we'll pass out candy and she'll enjoy that.

Power Tools Always Make Pumpkin Carving More Fun!

"UGH! You didn't tell me you were going to kill it!" ~ It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Yep that's right we had an good ole' fashion pumpkin gutting last night. My husband's philosophy "Power tools make it more fun", you guessed it. Instead of knives Steve used his dremel tool. As you can see Sadie was very fascinated. I hurried and got my pumpkin done so I could help should the need arise. I think it took him longer to write down what he wanted on the pumpkin than it actually took to carve it.

Does this face remind you of anyone?
Puss 'N Boots from Shrek perhaps?
She was very tired.

She did really well sitting in her high chair while I worked on my pumpkin.

Ok at this point I had just taken a picture and the flash blinded Steve. Not a good decision considering he had a power tool in his hand.

If you can't tell she was really tired by this point. If you look closely you'll also see the 1st of probably many battle wounds. We don't know how but we have the when narrowed down. It doesn't seem to bother her so she's good.

It's The Little Things That I Love The Most!

you know what I love?

I love the fact that no matter what Sadie smiles at me when I walk through the door. I love the fact that when you pick her up she pats you on the back. I love that she makes all kinds of crazy faces at you and doesn't even know that she is funny. I love that when you turn on music she rocks out and dances. I love that music from commercials catches her off guard and she will stop whatever she is doing just to watch the commercial and listen to the music. I love the fact that she is only 9 months but she already has a love of music, even opera. I love the fact she will be still and watch your lips when you pray. I love the fact that when you tell her that her bottle or sippy cup is empty she smiles and laughs. I love the fact that she loves to dance to the ba-ba song...."shake that thing" when we make her bottle. I love the fact that she will snuggle with you. I love the fact that she loves to play with my hair. I love that she already has her own little personality, a little of me and a LOT of Steve. And yes I love the fact that she sucks her thumb and plays with her blanket like Linus.

But the thing I love the most is that she loves me unconditionally. Remind you of anyone? I'm so very grateful for this precious blessing that HE has given me. I wouldn't change what we had to do in order for her to be here. She was definitely worth the wait.

I love you Sadie Abigale.

Mommy & Me Time

I have been reading all my friends blogs lately and have been really wishing I could stay home with Sadie. Steve and I talked about it again this weekend and we are hoping we have a two year plan. I've been so impressed with all my friends' blogs with the activities they do with their kids and all the different things they are able to accomplish with being home. I really hope our plan works. I've really been feeling like I've been missing out on a lot of Sadie time.

Last night when I got home I decided that Sadie and I haven't been able to play in the back yard for a while. So we ventured into the back yard for some good ole' fashioned Mommy and Me time. She has really been working hard on walking and I thought it would be a safe environment to continue working on that. She is getting really good. She'll walk while holding your hand now. You don't even have to really hold her hand. I think it's more of a security thing than a helping thing. Every day at Kimmi's (daycare), Kimmi's husband Henry works with Sadie to try and get her to walk. She is just really independent (we call it stubborn) and will walk when she's ready Kimmi says.

Here are some fun pictures and a couple of videos from last night. It was really fun and Daisy enjoyed us being outside. She and Sadie get along really good now and they both love each other. Daisy is really protective of her which is what we were hoping for.

Tonight we are going to carve our pumpkins we got on Saturday. It's still in the 80's here in good ole Bakersfield, so we thought the pumpkins wouldn't last until Friday if we carved them last weekend. So we are doing it tonight. I'll make sure to post some pictures and hopefully a couple of videos of Sadie helping.

Tomorrow is our Ward's Halloween Party. We are excited about it. Rylie, Katie and Ally are going to come with us. We are even going to decorate our truck. Ok I say decorate but really we are just putting our 6 foot Frankinstein in the back of the truck and plugging it into the truck. It's a quick and easy decoration. I'll make sure I get a picture.

She really liked the retaining wall. It was a nice security blanket for her.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Well let me first start off by saying this was not a fun weekend at the Eastlick house hold. Sadie got her shots on Friday and is still cutting two teeth. So she was running a temperature and was a bit cranky and clingy. But for the sake of new family traditions and the Holiday's we put on our happy faces on, pulled ourselves together and ventured to the Pumpkin Patch Saturday morning.

For those that don't know me too well, I love traditions. I love cartoons and I love it when they go together! So as you can imagine I was very happy when it came my turn to visit the pumpkin patch and start a family tradition of our own. Watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and carving our pumpkins comes tonight for Family night.

Side note: Sadie is our Linus. You see that picture of Linus on the cover of the video? That's Sadie, although her blanket is pink with fringe. I told Steve we needed to start calling her Linus. But I digress...

We got to visit Murray Farms on Saturday morning. They have a great little place just off Highway 58. They have a hay ride, which we didn't go on, A Hay maze, which we didn't participate in, a petting zoo, which was a big hit and a great little indoor market. We decided to wait until next year when Sadie is bigger to take part in the other attractions. We found a great pumpkin and got some great oranges. Inside the Market there is a skeleton which we came to find out, Sadie didn't like. (see video below)

They had a bunch of pumpkins out front with it decorated for the season. We got some great pictures of Sadie with those pumpkins. Wait did I say pictures? I guess that would mean I'd have to have my camera right? Wrong. I couldn't find it and Steve left his at home. So we used our video camera. The quality isn't as good as my camera but I wasn't going to miss the opportunity for a photo op. We also got a great video of Sadie with the pumpkins. Oh and thank you to Kimmi (daycare) who gave us the great 1st Trick or Treat bib. It went perfectly for my Halloween/Pumpkin Patch theme I was going for!

Sadie was very patient while we posed her for the pictures and while we shopped. Wasn't thrilled about the skeleton but we made it up to her at the petting zoo. Unfortunately we only have a couple of pictures since I didn't plan to well and my shirt decided it didn't want to stay up for the pictures. UGH! Anyway here are a couple of pictures and video of the petting zoo. Upon further contemplation I've decided not to upload the entire video. I will have to edit and upload it at another time. Remind me never to wear that shirt again!

She loves animals!

Ew Da, I have stuff on my hands now.

Outside the Petting zoo they had a play area for the kids. Sadie liked this chair immensely.

Scary Skeleton Video!

Don't we look happy? This was after the Skeleton. Need I say more?
