"C" is for Catepillar

This week we are starting a storytime and craft time group. Our first story we will be reading is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
This has been a mission of mine to get this group started. I really want Sadie to start getting used to a classroom setting. So part of the storytime is also a craft time to go along with the story. So this week we are going to make our own catepillars since we are learning about the letter "C". Now I feel like I'm Sesame Street...this storytime brought to you by the letter C.

So if you'd like to make a catepillar of your own this is what you'll need:
Glue and/or Glue Dots (I used both)
5 - 1" Pom Poms (body)
2 - 1/4" Pom Poms (antenna)
1 - Pipe Cleaner
Scissors
2 - googly eyes

The first thing I did was cut the pipe cleaner into 3/4" pieces.
(I made 12 heads total for the class)
Then apply a dot of glue onto the small pompom and put one end of the pipe cleaner on the glue. Apply pressure and twist. Let the glue dry approx 5-10 mins.
Repeat with second antenna.

Once dry put either a dot of glue or a glue dot (haha) on the end of the pipe cleaner and put on the large pom pom. Apply pressure and twist. I used a glue dot for this part. If you use regular glue please allow time for drying. Repeat on second antenna. And this is what it will look like...
Next put glue (either one will work) on the back of a googly eye and place on the large pom pom. If you use regular glue, please allow time for drying. Repeat for second eye. And this is what it will look like.
Now apply glue to the back of the head and press another large pom pom to the back of the catepillar head. Repeat this process until there is a total of 5 large pom poms (including head). I used regular glue for this part as the glue dots were a little hard to work with. So it took a little while for the regular glue to dry.
This is the finished product.
